You
are welcome here!
Episcopal
Church Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori and Robert Radtke, President
of Episcopal Relief & Development discuss the situation in Haiti following
the devastating earthquake in a video here: http://www.episcopalchurch.org/mission.htm.
The two leaders also share ways in which help can be provided, most notably by
donating to Episcopal Relief & Development. The Episcopal Church welcomes
all who worship Jesus Christ in 109 dioceses and three regional areas in 16
nations. The Episcopal Church is a member province of the worldwide Anglican
Communion. Episcopal Relief & Development: www.er-d.org;

The
days from the Feast of The Epiphany (January 6th) until Ash Wednesday (February
17) and the beginning of Lent constitutes the Church's season of Epiphany.
"Epiphany" means to "show forth" or
"Manifest." The season emphasizes three themes. First, the
divinity of the child Jesus is manifest to the Gentile world (in Jesus' day that
part of the world which was not Jewish) in the three wise men. This
represents the opening of God's salvation beyond the Jews to all of
humanity. Second, the first Sunday after The Epiphany features our Lord's
baptism which manifests his ordaining by his heavenly Father as God's Son.
It is a Sunday set aside for administering the Sacrament of Holy Baptism in the
Church. And third, the second Sunday after The Epiphany features
Jesus' first miracle, or "sign" when he changes water into wine at the
wedding feast in Cana. This "showing forth" of Jesus'
supernatural powers is one of many "signs" featured in St. John's
Gospel to lead people to belief in Jesus as the Messiah, the Christ, God's
Anointed One. The color of the season is green, and the emphasis is on
convincing the hearers of the Epiphany stories that Jesus is indeed God's
promised Savior of the World, it's Light and Life.
We
are observing our "regular schedule." Services of
Holy Eucharist are offered on Saturdays at 5:30 p.m. (contemporary music); and Sundays at 8 (Rite I -
"old" language, no music) & 10:00 a.m. (Rite II -
modern language, traditional music). Join
us for worship! Sunday School classes
and youth groups are also in session.
The
windows of the Old Church are soon to be restored and memorialized. Read
