The Kitchen at St. Mark's Feeding Program
Volunteer teams of 4 or 5 people set up, cook, serve, wash dishes and clean up at the noontime meal at St. Mark's Kitchen on Fridays and Saturdays.  About 40-50 free meals are served daily to the hungry who visit the kitchen six days a week.  Another 20-25 meals are prepared for delivery to area shut-ins.

This is a ministry of the Community Outreach Group, supported by Christ Church, with volunteers and building use supplied by Christ Church.  The Thrift Shop sells used clothing and household goods with proceeds being donated to community outreach projects.  The Cupboard and Pantry provide clothing, household items, food, personal care, paper and cleaning products to referred clients in real need, free of charge.  Telephone: (732) 671-0550.

Little Red Wagon Food Collection
Offerings of non-perishable food or household items are deposited by parishioners at collections points throughout the church and delivered to The Calico Cat Pantry.  We are called to these simple acts of kindness and generosity in our own time and place through Christ's servant ministry example.

bullet

Outreach Committee
This committee makes recommendations to the Vestry on community and world needs that might be addressed through our annual outreach budget.

Family Promise (Interfaith Hospitality Network)
Ten area churches offer their facilities on a weekly basis throughout the year to host the temporarily homeless.  The program is coordinated by a social worker who assists the participants with job and housing searches from the Day Center.  Christ Church members perform several duties during the week we host, such as preparing meals, setting-up and breaking-down temporary sleeping quarters, attending to overnight needs, and serving as hospitality providers.

Pastoral Support Team
This group serves as a representative of the Christ Church community and as the embodiment of God's love from our caring congregation. In addition to delivering altar flowers to those who are sick, bereaved, homebound or in a nursing home, members of this team may prepare a meal, provide transportation, or run errands for fellow parishioners who are in a stressful situation. They also provide periodic workshops, training and seminars on Christian pastoral care. Deacon Victoria Cuff is the coordinator.

Intercessory Prayer Chain

Lenten Alms Project

More than 850 million people around the world are chronically hungry. For children malnutrition is a real and terrible killer. It is the cause of more than half of all deaths in children under the age of 5. Today and every day 29,000 children will die of starvation and hunger related illnesses. This year our Lenten alms will go to support the feeding programs of World Vision both in the US and around the world.

$30 feeds one child for one month.  We exceeded our Lenten goal for 2008, by raising a total of $12,850, As a result, our Lenten Alms will feed 35 children for one year. Read more.
